Ledger Unveils Nano Gen5 Hardware Wallet with Designer Susan Kare’s Personalization Touch
Ledger has launched its latest hardware wallet, the Nano Gen5, marking a strategic shift in branding by referring to such devices as "signers." The product features customizable badges designed by Susan Kare, the artist behind Apple's early Macintosh icons. This move aims to blend functionality with artistic expression, distancing the brand from the utilitarian image of traditional crypto storage.
The collaboration with Kare was orchestrated by iPod co-creator Tony Fadell, now a Ledger board member. The design initiative reflects Ledger's ambition to position itself as a lifestyle brand rather than just a security provider. "We wanted to integrate digital art into the hardware," said Ariel Wengroff, Ledger's EVP of Marketing, highlighting the contrast between AI-generated art and human-crafted design in an increasingly automated space.
